Directory — Permissions

Overview

This page documents the permissions used in the Directory feature. Permissions determine which transactions a user can access and which actions are available within them.

For general access concepts and permission categories, see: Permissions & Access

Permissions

Permission Grants access to
view Access the /directory page and view the contact list. The View row action (read-only contact modal with logs) is available to all users with this permission regardless of contact status.
edit New Contact button; Manage Areas button and all area actions (create, edit, deactivate, activate); Edit row action on contacts; Deactivate and Activate row actions on contacts.

Note

edit covers both contact management and area management. There is no separate permission to manage areas without also having contact edit access.

Typical role mapping

  • Read-only user (e.g., a collaborator who needs to look up contact info)

    • view
  • Directory administrator (e.g., a manager or admin who maintains the contact list and area configuration)

    • view
    • edit

Troubleshooting access

  • If the Directory item is missing from the menu, the user does not have the view permission.
  • If the New Contact button, Manage Areas button, and Edit/Deactivate row actions are not visible, the user has view but not edit.
  • If the View row action is missing, the user does not have view.
  • To request access, contact your supervisor or system administrator.
