Directory — Workflow
Overview
The directory follows the standard catalog lifecycle in SARA. Contacts are created active and can be deactivated or reactivated at any time. Areas follow the same lifecycle independently of the contacts assigned to them.
Note
For the standard catalog lifecycle pattern, see: Workflows & Pipelines
Status lifecycle
ACTV— Active. The contact is in use and available across the system (selectors, email routing, module references).INAC— Inactive. The contact is excluded from active operations. It remains visible in the list when the INAC filter is enabled, and can be reactivated.

Lifecycle notes
Contacts
- Status changes (deactivate and activate) require confirmation via a dialog before the change is applied.
- Deactivating a contact does not remove its references in other modules — existing quotes, projects, or customer records that reference the contact retain the link.
Areas
- The area catalog has its own ACTV ↔ INAC lifecycle, managed inside the Manage Areas modal.
- Deactivating an area removes it from the area selector in new and edited contacts. Contacts already assigned to that area retain the assignment and continue to participate in email routing as long as the area's
email_tosetting is set. - Area changes (rename, email routing setting, status) take effect immediately and apply to all contacts assigned to that area.
